County Cross Country
We had a great day out in Belvedere on the 24th of September and we even won some medals!! The children represented the school so well. Well done to all of the children who took part in trials the week before the competition.
Walk Wednesdays are back! The senior classes love taking the opportunity to talk to our infant classes and are setting a wonderful example for the younger classes.
We have a fantastic group of students that are making up our Active School Committee for the year! Their first jobs will include counting our PE equipment and consulting with their classmates on how to make day to day life in St. Kenny more active.
5th and 6th class partnered up with Dave and Helen from Bike Heroes. They had 5 lessons where they went through simple obstacle courses to learning about the parts of the bicycle to road safety to going for a cycle on the road and putting all they had learned into practice. It was definitely an action packed few weeks!
Skipping Showcase and our Skipathon!
To bring both our Active Schools Week and our Skip Around Europe challenge to a close, we held two events to mark the end of them. We held a Skipping Showcase where members of all classes could show off their new skills learned during our skipping challenge. We also had a Skipathon where one student represented their class in a straight up shootout to see who could skip for the longest!
From May 6th - 9th we had our Active Schools Week. We started every morning with a lovely morning shake up. The kids took part in a range of different activities from Karate to Cycling to Circuit Training.
We are currently 3 weeks into our Skip Around Europe challenge! Each class has chosen a country they will skip to. The rules are for every 10 skips they travel 1 km!
Active School Walkway
Our Active School Walkway is up and running! We will use this every Wednesday for our "Walk Wednesdays" and for various other events throughout the school year!
We are currently in Week 2 of our Active Challenge where we are doing at least 1 movement break per day created by the Irish Heart Foundation!
We had a very successful and enjoyable day out in Belvedere for the Cross Country today! Well done to all the students who represented our school and also who took part in our trials!
We celebrated European Sports Day by taking part in the #RelayTakeover challenges. Here are some photos of our 6th class students putting the Junior Infants through their paces.
